Don Goliath: Don is a talented singer and producer working in the Dubstep scene with many releases to under his belt from 2007 to the current date and only one of a privileged few Dubstep producers who have had the opportunity to work with the top Jamaican artists. His Silky Vocals have been heard on many tracks and can be heard throughout the chorus sections of this sample collection. To Date Don has worked with singers and Mc's such as Absorb, Rankin Joe, Chuck Fender, Junior Demus and Producers such as 6Blocc, Alien Pimp, Subversive amongst many others.
Lone Ranger: Born Anthony Alphanso Waldron, Jamaican Reggae Deejay Waldron spent much of his youth in the United Kingdom and began his recording career with Clement Coxsone Dodd's Studio One label. He initially worked as a duo with Welton Irie, but soon began recording solo, having a big hit in Jamaica with Love Bump. He also worked on the Virgo Sound sound system. He had a number one UK reggae chart album in 1980 with Barnabus Collins. He is regarded as one of the most lyrically inventive deejays of his era, and was a major influence on British deejays of the early 1980s. He relocated to the United States in the mid-1980s, but returned to Jamaica in 1998, and began performing on sound systems once again.
Nigger Kojak: Kojak real name Floyd Anthony Perch began his career under the name Pretty Boy Floyd, deejaying on various sound systems. Taking inspiration from Telly Savalas' TV character, Kojak, Perch changed his stage name to Nigger Kojak, shaving his head and often appearing with Kojak's signature lollipop. He had a local hit with his debut single, Massacre, and after featuring on Dennis Brown's Ain't That Loving You single with Hole In De Bucket, along with a female singer, as Kojak and Liza. Kojak was one of a number of deejays who shifted the emphasis from 'cultural' chants to pure 1980s dancehall chat. The success of Kojak and Liza led to the track Nice Up Jamaica (actually a Perch solo outing, on the Real Rock rhythm) being endorsed by the Jamaican tourist board.
Trinity: Born in 1954, Brammer initially worked under the name Prince Glen, but soon after began working under the stage name Trinity, taken from the spaghetti western character. After working as a deejay on several Kingston sound systems, he made his debut recording in March 1976 with Set Up Yourself for producer Joseph Hoo Kim. Words of The Prophet followed for Yabby You, who also produced his debut album, Shanty Town Determination. Late in 1976, he joined up with Dillinger for the Crank Face single, and the Clash album, produced by UK-based producer Clement Bushay. 1977 saw the deejay in great demand, recording more than 20 singles for a variety of producers, including Winston Riley, Tommy Cowan, Joe Gibbs, and Yabby You, his biggest hit coming with Three Piece Suit for Gibbs, featuring Trinity toasting over a new version of Alton Ellis's I'm Still In Love With You rhythm, with a lyric that anticipated the move from 'cultural' lyrics to more material/carnal concerns of the dancehall era.
Prince Jazzbo: Prince Jazzbo real name Linval Roy Carter began recording with Coxsone Dodd's Studio One label in the early 1970s. He went on to work on his own releases with Bunny Lee, producing as well in collaboration with many artists as a vocalist and producer for labels including his own, Ujama. His best work was probably done in collaboration with legendary producer Lee Scratch Perry. The seminal recording Super Ape featured Jazzbo toasting on Croaking Lizard, one of the most distinctive reggae songs made. The murky sounds coming from Black Ark studio and the Upsetters were unlike anything else being done on the island. Prince Jazzbo and fellow toaster I-Roy had a well reported, but friendly and mutually beneficial on-record clash during 1975, including the cuts Straight to Jazzbo's Head from I-Roy and the retort, Straight to I-Roy's Head from Prince Jazzbo.
Jr Tiger: Raised in the United States by Jamaican parents, Jr. Tiger recorded his first song aged 14 with Sammy C. Davis, on the King Barvel Label-Missing You. With his trade mark bandanna, hat and glasses he started DJ-ing at parties on sound systems such as: Addies International, Spectrum, Techniques, Rode International and many more. He founded Living Room record label andhas performed all over the Us and Uk with reggae greats such as: Shabba Ranks, Super Cat, Jr. Demus, John Holt, Frankie Paul, Trevor Sparks, Pinchers, Jr. Cat, Wolfman, Luciano, Anthony B, Shine Head, Nadine Sutherland, and including a clash with Lady Saw in Orlando Florida.
This is your chance to get your hands on some truly authentic Jamaican Reggae and Dancehall vocals by the some of the genres best known artists, so check out the demo tracks to see how they sound in a full productions and sample Don Goliath Presents Reggae and Dancehall Acapellas Vol. 1 TODAY!
